Publication: DISTORTED VACATION

100-Page Independant Photographic Essay

Bozeman is a damn fine playground. There is an eclectic and wild gathering of people here that make this town so unique. Artists. Hippies. Hipsters. Musicians. Outdoor enthusiasts. Skiers. Snowboarders. I am surprised each semester with the similarities and differences of people that flood into this college town. We’re living in a time where we work our asses off all week in school or at work so that we can have a weekend full of skiing, drinking, and not leaving each other's sides. We’re living in a time where it is okay to wake up hungry as hell at noon on a Sunday and do nothing but convince Cecil and Wenzel to make us all breakfast burritos and binge-watch every episode of Impractical Jokers. We live in a dream if you ask me. And not to be the bearer of bad news, but this easy-going lifestyle we all live will not last forever. During this short period of our lives, every day feels like one long, beautiful, twisted vacation. While all of us are ultimately here to figure our lives out, it is a fact that the youth culture of Bozeman works to play.

distorted - pulled or twisted out of shape; contorted. adjective / vacation - an extended period of recreation. noun

"Distorted Vacation" was created out of a deep burning passion to document and tell the stories of some of the most unique individuals and youth that accompany Bozeman. To show my friends from home that there is much more to Bozeman, Montana than the stereotypical cow-to-people ratio and fields of nothingness. A passion that was formed through years of real-life experiences and all the insane times that can only be found by getting out amongst it. "Distorted Vacation" is an authentic source of entertainment that showcases only a small portion of the beautiful lifestyle we are living. These words and photographs are much more than an “artsy fartsy” yearbook. It is a real documentation of the best time of our lives created for myself and all the beautiful people I have met here. So take this magazine, kick back, grab a beer, slip off your shoes, and simply take a moment to realize how great this culture is whether you know these folks or not.
