THOUSAND LEAVES CLEANSING A SEASONS CHANGE
“We are what we see”, said St. Thomas Aquinas. How much of what we see do we preserve? For all your experiences, you never quite know what to expect, it is always a new challenge, a plunge that you have to take in order for it to be real. Always hoping that these experiences, being durable, will not leave me without photographs, also know that this moment in time will only vanish soon. The fear of losing images is tantamount to the fear of losing one’s identity. In this project I have gathered my Grandfather’s slides from when he was my age, and by selecting and pairing images in a different context, give new meaning to both the photographs and the relationships within the frames. Thousand Leaves Cleansing A Season’s Change, Season’s Change, is a visual record of family documents, found imagery, and the combination between each. An ongoing project centered around the American West and its subcultures, all with the purpose to ignite a feeling that rejuvenates my Grandfather’s Kodachrome slides.
